The Good Dog and Bad Dog

“We gain the strength of the temptation we resist.”  -Ralph Waldo Emerson

I’ve heard it put that everyone each has two ‘spiritual’ dogs: When you feed the good dog, he grows stronger; but when you feed the bad dog, he grows stronger.  It's human nature to gravitate towards the latter, but it takes us starving the carnal creature every day to wholeheartedly submit our lives to Christ.

Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!”  (Matthew 26:41, NLT)
