Obedience Without Honor?

“Who sows virtue reaps honor.”  -Leonardo da Vinci

In my youth, my mom first asked me for something in a sweet tone: “Christian, please take the trash out”—and then 30 minutes later with an abrupt tone: “take the trash out now!”  I learned that to obey dishonorably was as good as disobeying (my dad wore a belt to prove it!).  When our Heavenly Father asks His children to obey, sometimes people obey begrudgingly.  They do the right thing with the wrong attitude.  No matter what God asks of us, let’s choose to be children who obey and honor God in everything.  Amen?
Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.  Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth (Ephesians 6:1-3, KJV).
