A Memorial Tribute

“For famous men have the whole earth as their memorial.”  -Pericles

The dead body of Jesus lay to decay in a tomb, and a stone rolled over to seal his fate shut, so the Roman guards thought.  A cross stood tall on Mount Calvary as the ultimate memorial to the ‘King of the Jews.’  If Jesus was merely man, the story ends here, and all there is to remember him, a wooden cross.  Then God awakes to leave the tomb, fulfilling his promise to “raise up the temple in 3 days.”  This Memorial Day let’s remember Jesus overcomes death so that everyone that believes in him can have eternal life.

This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for
us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers (1 John 3:16, NIV).
