Struggling But Stronger

Either you run the day or the day runs you. -Jim Rohn

When training for a marathon (26.2 miles), each week you run some shorter days (4 - 8 miles) and a longer day (9 -18 miles), to add up those miles to reach the target total.  When I first started training I could do shorter days easily, but it’s the longer days that I sometimes dreaded.  Each mile can feel like a struggle, not only physically but also psychologically.  Likewise we all have days that feel long.  Maybe you’re tired of fighting the same temptation, or your boss is belittling you, or you’re in constant fear of a financial crisis.  Today I encourage you to keep moving forward because through the struggle you are getting stronger.

For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it (Hebrews 12:11, ESV).
